24 May

Last week, I was having a horrible day. It was one of those days in which everything that could go wrong…did. My feelings were hurt, I couldn’t seem to get a handle on setting my day straight, and before I knew it I was throwing myself one heckuva pity party. (Equipped with tears and a lot of chocolate.)  During the Why Me part of my party, I was interrupted by a phone call from a friend. In the course of our conversation, we started talking about God’s grace. I’m not sure how we went from talking about who the heck is Justin Bieber to the grace of our Heavenly Father, but we did… and for me, this was proof  the conversation was being led by the Holy Spirit.

My friend said something during the conversation that rendered me speechless and if you know me, you know this is a rarity.

This was exactly what I needed to hear:

“God has a way of creating things in our lives to bring us back to Him.”

I’ve mentioned to many people how I’m constantly making the mistake of doing it MY way instead of God’s way. And each time, things have been known to go terribly wrong. I call out to God and He brings me back to my senses.  I am shown the error of my ways and in God’s wonderful grace, He makes the necessary provisions to get me back on track.

It is simple. It is easy. I should just get it already.

God’s Ways are NOT OUR ways.

I may be able to manipulate certain situations to fit into my lifestyle which will make me happy for the moment, but I do not have the capabilities to do this with all things.

Following circumstances alone, often spells trouble. If we do not take the time to listen to God and follow only convenient circumstances, we are taking a risk that Satan is  leading us into deception. We cannot go against God’s Word. We must make an honest effort to walk in wisdom.

Sometimes the walking in wisdom is rocky, mostly because of our lack of understanding, but this is where faith comes in. We need to hold firm in the faith that during those times when the road gets rocky, God will certainly carry us until it the road is smooth again.

And that’s it. This morning while the silence is still beautiful in my house, I will study my scriptures and take some time to visit with my Heavenly Father. I’ve missed Him.
